Jio Booster Packs Updated to Offer More 4G Data

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Jio Rs. 11 and Rs. 21 booster packs give 400MB and 1GB data, respectively
  • Buyers of Rs. 51 booster plan will get 3GB of 4G data
  • At Rs. 101, customers will get 6GB of high-speed data
  • Jio packs just got updated under the Republic Day 2018 Offer, with 500MB free 4G data on recharges priced between Rs. 149 and Rs. 498. This change in plans came just weeks after jio cuts of the prices
  • of its 1GB per day plans, and launched plans with 1.5GB data per day. But it doesn't seem Jio is done just yet, as the company has also updated its booster packs, giving more data to users who have run out of the 4G allocation with their ongoing plans.
Till recently, Jio users could choose from five booster packs, priced between Rs. 11 and Rs. 301. Now, however, the number of booster plans has been reduced to four, and the most expensive one costs Rs. 101. For those unaware, a booster pack can be used if the daily 1GB/ 1.5GB/ 2GB/ 3GB/ 5GB 4G data limit is exhausted, and the speed has been cut down to 64kbps for the remainder of the day. In such a case, users can purchase a booster pack and continue browsing at high speeds.

With the update, the Jio booster plan at Rs. 11 gives 400MB data, up from 100MB. Then there's the Rs. 21 pack that gives 1GB of 4G data; there was no booster pack at this price previously. At Rs. 51, subscribers will get 3GB of high-speed data, instead of 1GB. And for buyers of the Rs. 101 pack, Jio is giving 6GB of 4G data, up from 2GB at Rs. 91 previously.
The data allocation with the Jio booster packs will be available to the customer as long as the validity of the current plan runs, or the allocated data is exhausted. Once the data bundled with the booster pack is exhausted, customers will get browsing speeds of64kbps. Then they will need to buy another booster pack to continue browsing at high speeds, or wait for the 24-hour period to run out.

Jio Republic Day 2018 Offer to Give 500MB More 4G Data Daily With 1GB, 1.5GB Per Day Plans

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Jio plans with 1GB data per day will give 1.5GB per day from January 26
  • Similarly, 1.5GB per day plans will provide 2GB per day under the offer
  • The Rs. 98 plan will come with 28-day validity, up from 14 days

  • prepaid users will get 500MB on select plans from Friday, February 26 as part of the company's Republic Day 2018 Offer. The move was announced by Jio in a tweet, and entails extra data on recharge packs that presently offer 1GB data per day and 1.5GB data per day. This means Jio users will get 1.5GB daily data allocation at Rs. 149, Rs. 349, Rs. 399 and Rs. 449 recharge packs purchased after 12am on January 26; similarly, the Rs. 198, Rs. 398, Rs. 448 and Rs. 498 plans will provide 2GB data per day. These plans come soon after the Mukesh Ambani-backed telecom operator
and launched the 1.5GB per day plans.
The company’s 1GB data per day plans are priced at Rs. 149, Rs. 349, Rs. 399 and Rs. 449, with validities of 28 days, 70 days, 84 days and 91 days, respectively. However, with the Jio Republic Day Offer 2018, customers will get 50 percent more data as the daily high-speed data cap will be raised to 1.5GB per day. This means the 1GB data per day plans are effectively phased out, at least till the Republic Day offer continues.

Similarly, the 1.5GB data per day plans will now offer 2GB of high-speed data a day. So customers will now get more data with the Rs. 198, Rs. 398, Rs. 448 and Rs. 498 plans. This pretty much leaves the Rs. 299 plan redundant as subscribers will be able to get the same benefits (2GB per day for 28 days) at Rs. 198.

The Rs. 98 Jio plan is also being revised to offer twice the current validity as part of the Republic Day offer. Users will get validity of 28 days at Rs. 98, up from 14 days. However, the 4G data allocation with the plan is 2GB for the entire 28-day period; customers presently get 150MB of 4G data per day data with the pack.
Customers will have to buy a new recharge pack on or after January 26, 2018 to avail the data benefits under the Jio Republic Day Offer. The new recharge pack will be queued, and will come into effect once the current plan’s validity runs out. For example, if a subscriber has the Rs. 349 plan with 70-day validity that ends on February 29 and then buys the Rs. 349 recharge after January 26, they will get 1GB data per day in February, and then 1.GB per for 70 days from March 1. Alternatively, they can cancel the active plan in the MyJio app and activate the 1.5GB data plan as soon as they buy it.

Jio Happy New Year 2018 Offer: 1GB Data Per Day Plans to Get Price Cuts

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Jio Rs. 499 and Rs. 459 plans will now cost Rs. 449 and Rs. 399
  • Plans priced at Rs. 199 and Rs. 399 will be at Rs. 149 and Rs. 349
  • New plans with 1.5GB data per day will be launched as well
Reliance Jio will cut the prices of its plans with 1GB data per day by up to Rs. 60 as part of a new Happy New Year 2018 offer. This will bring down the base price of Jio plans with 1GB data per day to Rs. 149, down from the current Rs. 199. Interestingly, this move will nullify the tariff revisionimplemented by the operator in October. Apart from this price cut, Jio will also launch a host of plans with 1.5GB data per day as part of the exercise. These changes will come into effect on Tuesday, January 9 and the first of many such announcements to come.
Starting Tuesday, the Rs. 199, Rs. 399, Rs. 459 and Rs. 499 Jio plans will cost Rs. 149, Rs. 349, Rs. 399 and Rs. 449, respectively. Details of the plans, such as the data allocation, calling, and SMS benefits as well as access to free apps, will remain the same as before.

The new 1.5GB data per day plans the operator is bringing in are priced at Rs. 198, Rs. 398, Rs. 448, and Rs. 498. These are the price points of the 1GB data per day plan, meaning consumers are essentially getting 50 percent more data at roughly the same price.

It is not yet clear when the price cuts will end, but more clarity can be expected on Tuesday. The move will come into effect just days before the ongoing Jio promotion with cashback and vouchers of up to Rs. 3,300 ends. The operator has 160 million users across the country, and has been dictating market terms since its launch. In the past few weeks, operators have started offering more data without raising prices on certain popular recharge packs, so this move can be seen as a means to keep Jio users from moving to other networks
